Anorexia

HI GUYS!!!

I was in class today and we were talking about how information is communicated on the internet. He chose the case study of 'Pro-ana'. Just incase you don't know what it is, it is a movement that supports Anorexia and helps them continue......

One of the things that shocked me is they have rules..well, they have converted the ten commandments into their own and have called it 'The Thin Commandments'. We went through all of them in my class and the ones that stuck in my head were "If you're not thin, you're not attractive" and "it is better to be thin than to be healthy".

I was almost crying for these girls because they are so lost in the world- they think they have to be thin to be attractive but then it's kinda like a disease because even they don't know where it stops

Ferne Cotton interviewed one of them and they talked about goal weight and what happens when they reach it- the girl said, they'll aim to get even thinner!!!

What is sad is- these girls are potentially beautiful girs but their self esteem is SO low to underground level that when they look in the mirror all they see is UGLY UGLY UGLY and FAT FAT FAT even when their rib bones are sticking out. THAT AINT RIGHT!!

It's also scary because some of them hope to die from it if they have to die and become a 'thin angel'. ...AND THERE ARE WEBSITES THAT COMPLETELY SUPPORT THEM!!!

I'm not saying they shouldn't be supported but what the hell kinda support is "if you're not thin, you're not attractive"????

It's just not right. I want to encourage EVERYONE, yes, including those of you that think your self esteem is ok....the thing is these girls don't even realise what they're doing to themselves and it's a psychological issue. I pray we learn to realise that we are all beautiful whatever we look like- whatever shape or size- whatever skin colour. Not everyone was made to fit into a size Zero dress. I'm not saying eat yourself to overweight cos that's also a kind of problem but you'd know when you're naturally slim or curvy.

I'll say it again- YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL. Why wouldn't you be? God made you,right?

If you know someone with this problem, i beg you, help them, support them, encourage them IN THE POSITIVE WAY, tell them they're beautiful cos they need to know it. they need to hear it and understand it.
