I GET IT

I get it now
I get the extravagant agony of a wait
The lack of patience, you contemplate
Whether or not you’re being paranoid
But you rehearse the words to feel the void
That is the dark hole is a blank canvas
And painted in it like the map of Kansas
Are fear and the anxiety of loneliness
I get it now
The distance between my mind and my heart
The distance between my soul and the earth
I get the agony
Oh the agony, I need the harmony
The deceptive shield, my testimony
What will happen if I leave it all behind?
Is it smart? Is it foolish? Am I being too kind?
“I shot the sheriff but I did not shoot the deputy”
Did I hurt wrong or right? Did I fail to see your beauty?
I get it now
What makes the rain bounce back
Even though the water touched the surface, crack
Is what it feels like, up my nose suffocating
Addicted to what may never cure me, fascinating
I get the reason why I hurt is you
Yet you’re my healing power, give me a tissue
To clean up my mess, the devastating journey
Of a thousand beats, missed my rhythm, Germany,
Let’s go there and fight a war
We’ll hide in that harsh zone where my coat tore
My coat...my shield, my devastating shield
Save me and take me to a mine field
Or take this scissors and make my defence yield
I’ll guide your hand so you know the right places,
The weak spots that’ll make you scar my face is
Something you’ve never seen before, so amazing
I don’t mind, for you I’ll set the world ablaze in
Times of trouble, I won’t have to be your miracle
Because I get it
What once tasted like that gorgeous maple
Now seems to be the cranberry in your milk
Never again will I get to feel your silk
Oh your amazing silk, you’re my wonder
But I’ll stop and I’ll be our asunder
I do get it
I get it now
I don’t know how
