A COMPANION TO THE FORGOTTEN

HEY GUYS,
How are we all?
I know I said I would do a Diary of... series but this had to be done, I was inspired and I have to blog about it.

I am going to talk about love but not in the way we are used to thinking about it. I was just on Facebook and my friend had posted a video of a man who suddenly decided to quit his job and start loving the poor...sounds funky, right? as I watched the video, not only did I realise (once again) that I am to privileged and should be very grateful for all I have, I also realised that I have EVERYTHING to give to those who don't have simply because I am alive. In the video, the man said "see the joy of giving"... that very short sentence said A LOT to me because it means that giving brings this joy unexplainable- and you have to be able to see it.

Please don't get it twisted and think I mean giving is just something physical, it's not. Love is half of giving, in the video the man said "food is one part, love is another part...food will give physical nutrition and love and affection will give them mental nutrition" it's cliché but think about it, doesn't that mean not only poor people need giving? some people already have half .i.e. food, clothes, money...etc. they don't have the other half which is love.

It takes a real human being to do what that man did/is doing- the thing is, we don't even have to do as much as he's doing, all it takes is a deed from your heart each day and not expect anything in return. It could be helping someone with money, cooking for them, making them smile/laugh, making them feel like they're worth the air they breathe. In some cases, not lying, not stealing from people...not killing.

Be a companion to the forgotten because they tend to remember things, nobody knows what the future holds, although you may have a plan even YOU don't know where you're gonna be in the next ten years- unless you're a future telling genius. "Tis better to give than to receive", right? Let's start doing it, well I've made up my mind to start. The other day, i went to the restaurant and got myself some takeaway, you know when you've been thinking about something for a few days and then you buy it eventually and it's in your hand- unopened- i was already dreaming about the food and almost skipping home. I saw this homeless guy at the city centre, which was weird cos i'd never seen one there before- i walked past him at first and wanted to keep singing in my heart but i'd forgotten the happy song i was singing because all i could think about was the fact that that man is a lot more likely to die of hunger than i am- tried to give myself a reason why it's not my problem but i couldn't. "We're all each other's problem" my conscience told me and it wouldn't stop saying it until i went back and gave the man my food. He didn't say "thank you" but the way he looked at me was enough to know how grateful he was, it even hurts to think that the food i gave him would probably be the only thing he eats this month or the next few months.

We eat multiple times everyday, if we don't eat in a day, it's not cos we CAN'T, it's cos we DON'T WANT TO. Those people don't have a choice but to starve, stink, be sick, be dying or simply be unhappy.

The reason why everyone's not rich is so those who CAN will GIVE, those who have CHOICES will GIVE, those who can AFFORD will GIVE- it all boils down to LOVE. If you have enough love in your heart, you'll give- whether or not the person appreciates it or shows appreciation.
